ELGIN — The Wolfpack boys basketball team made it two in a row Tuesday night, defeating Leigh 58 to 36. Slow starts which have plagued the team of late were a distant memory on this night as the Wolfpack jumped out to a nine-point lead after one quarter and never looked back.
Coach Mark Schmitt’s team used their quickness to force Leigh into bad shots and turnovers in the early going. At the other end of the court, the shots were falling for the Wolfpack. Leading 32 to 14 at halftime, the Wolfpack pulled away in the third quarter by outscoring their opponent 11 to four. Seniors Drew Schindler and Evan Parks led the scoring parade for the Wolfpack with 12 points apiece. As a team, EPPJ connected on 20 of 47 shots from the field (five of 11 from behind the three-point arc). Leigh didn’t fare as well, they only made 12 of 51 shots from the field (three of 14 from behind the arc).
