ELGIN — After struggling most of the season to collect wins, the Elgin Public-Pope John Wolfpack boys basketball team made it two in a row Friday night with a 65 to 32 victory over Newman Grove.
The BlueJays were outmatched from the start as the Wolfpack jumped out to an 11 to 2 lead in the first four minutes of the game. Evan Parks had four points in the run and Ross Schindler connected on a trey. Nick Heithoff added four points in the quarter as EPPJ led 17 to 4 as the clock expired.
Good fortune continued to be on the side of the Wolfpack in the second quarter as Caleb Pelster made one free throw, grabbed the rebound on the second free throw and scored to give the Wolfpack a 22 to 4 lead.
