Work is winding down and equipment is being moved back into the Elgin Veterans’ Medical Clinic. An open house will be held this Sunday, Oct. 30.
Construction workers were busy putting on the final touches earlier this week
Owen Jacobsen, project manager for Beckenbauer Construction which served as general contractor for the project, said Monday work is winding down on the project. Altogether, 25 contractors played a role in construction of the new building including Kallhoff Electric who did the electrical work.
“It’s our plan to hand over the keys to Boone County Health Center (BCHC) by the end of the week,” he said in a telelphone interview. “According to our schedule, we’re going to be early (in finishing the project).”
He said from the day they started with concrete, it’s taken just over three months to construct the new medical clinic. Demolition of the old building began the second full week of July.
BCHC Administrator Victor Lee said plans are to start moving in equipment on Wednesday and complete the task, hopefully by Friday. “Everything is going very well,” he said Monday morning.
“It’s (the clinic) going to be a nice addition to the Elgin community. We’re pleased to offer that. We want everybody to come and see the new clinic and enjoy coffee and cookies on Sunday.”
The open house will run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Hospitality and tours will be provided throughout the afternoon.
