Halloween 2016 falls on a Monday this year, a very busy Monday.
Elgin Public-Pope John will begin sub-district volleyball play that night. Pairings will be announced Thursday and will be posted online.
Because of that, trick-or-treaters may have to visit homes and businesses early.
Many Elgin merchants welcome trick-or-treaters. Look for signs on their doors Monday as treats will be handed out.
Also, the Elgin Public Library hopes to have children in their costumes stop by. The library will be open from 4 to 7 p.m. and will be handing out treats.
