Short term and long term plans were addressed Monday night at the November meeting of the Elgin Chamber/Community Club.
Twenty were in attendance for the meeting held at the Steel Steed Steakhouse & Saloon.
Teresa Moore gave an update on Santa Claus’ imminent arrival in Elgin.
With the help of the Elgin Volunteer Fire Department, Santa will arrive during Kid’s Shopping Day to be held Wednesday night, Dec. 2.
Setup for the event will begin Tuesday night, Dec. 1, at 5 p.m. What remains to be done will be addressed the next day at 1 p.m. Volunteers wishing to lend a hand just need to show up at the afore-mentioned times. Santa Claus will arrive at 5:55 p.m. and be on hand to greet children till 7:30 p.m. at the KC Hall.
Vendors scheduled to participate are Elgin Pharmacy & Gift, Dean’s Market, Sandy Kallhoff/JoAnn Beckman-Celebrating Home, Central Valley Ag, Barb Mahnke-Avon, Dona Elliott, Eighth Grade Entrepreneur Class, The Station, Karen Koenig, Stars & Stripes Corner Service, Total Image, and Peggy Payne. Local decorator consultants on hand will include Avon/Karen Koenig, Beauty Control/Mary Bauer, Celebrating Home/Sandy Kallhoff & JoAnn Beckman, Crafts/Dona Elliott, Pampered Chef/Kathy Dinslage, Tupperware/Doris Ternus, and Watkins/Judy Zegers. Vendor booths will be open from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Kids shopping will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Park Center Church will be serving soup, sandwiches and other goodies from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Also happening in December will be the annual Christmas Lighting Contest. Judging of lights will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 16. Elgin Bucks will be awarded for first and second place in the following categories: Most Original, Religious, and Best Overall.
