The Antelope County 4-H Program celebrated it’s annual 4-H Achievement earlier this month at the Courthouse Meeting Room, Neligh. 4-H’ers from the county were honored for their many accomplishments during the 2012 4-H year. The 7:00 p.m. pot-luck meal was enjoyed by those in attendance.
There were several highlights of the 4-H year announced throughout the evening. One was the naming of Justine Meis, Elgin, and Ethan Mosel, Neligh, as the Outstanding 4-H members for the 2012 4-H year.
Justine is the 18 year old daughter of Jim and Anne Meis. She graduated from Elgin Pope John Catholic High School on May, 2012. She is currently attending South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota, pursuing a major in horticulture. She has also joined collegiate 4-H at SDSU. Justine was extremely active during her 11 years as a member of the Cedar Creek 4-H Club.
She held various offices during her 4-H career within the club as well as carrying a well-rounded variety of 4-H projects. She served on the Antelope County 4-H committee as a youth representative for three years. Justine attended the Citizenship Washington Focus, National 4-H Youth Conference in Washington, D.C. in 2011. Entering many exhibits at the Antelope County Fair during her many years as a member, she had many of them selected to represent the county at the Nebraska State Fair, in the areas of horticulture, clothing, photography, heritage, home environment, food presentation, child development, shooting sports and beef. She also represented Antelope County in the State Fair Fashion Revue both in 2011 and again in 2012. She was also awarded the Norfolk Archery Club Scholarship in 2012.
