Wolfpack Girls Defeat Riverside To Remain Unbeaten

ELGIN — Jumping out to a 23-point lead by halftime, the Wolfpack girls basketball team cruised to a 68 to 44 victory over Riverside Saturday night.
The Chargers didn’t have a chance as the Wolfpack quickly took control of the game, jumping out to a 22 to 8 lead after one quarter.
The trio of Baylee Wemhoff, Jenna Parks and Allyson Wemhoff did much of the damage in the early going. They combined to score 44 points.
A basket by Jordan Mescher at the 7:20 mark in the third quarter gave the Wolfpack a 55 to 27 lead.
The teams traded baskets for the rest of the game as the Wolfpack held their margin.
Towards the end of the fourth quarter, Coach Randy Eisenhauer cleared the bench to give reserves some playing time. Anna Heilhecker, Calli Krebs, and Amy Nelson got baskets for the Wolfpack to close out the game.
Riverside was led in scoring by Karen Schmeits. A senior, she led all scorers in the game with 19 points. The Wolfpack was led in scoring by Parks with 18, Baylee Wemhoff added 14 and freshman Allyson Wemhoff tossed in 12. The victory boosted the Wolfpack’s record to 4-0.
