NELIGH — In a season marred by injuries, the Elgin Public-Pope John wrestling team had just three compete at the Neligh-Oakdale Invitational Saturday.
“Injuries continue to be a concern,” Coach Doug Jones said about the team at it enters the final month of the season. “We were shorthanded.”
Of those who did compete at Neligh, two brought home medals. Brett Kinney pinned two wrestlers en route to placing second in the 113-pound weight class.
Teammate Tyler Childers pinned two wrestlers and placed fourth in the 126-pound weight class.
Alex Grosserode posted a victory in the highly-competitive 160-pound weight class.
