ELGIN — Some teams form an identity. It’s safe to say the EPPJ Wolfpack girls basketball team are not quitters.
Playing in the first round of the Wolfpack Holiday Tournament Wednesday the Wolfpack needed three overtime periods to defeat Burwell 61 to 53.
“The girls had a great game that seemed like it would never end,” Coach Randy Eisenhauer said. “They played hard all night and in the end they stepped up on the defensive side and only gave up two points in the third overtime.”
Like many of their other games so far this season, the Wolfpack started strong taking a 25 to 22 lead at halftime. Then, in the second half, the lead slowly slipped away to the point that Burwell tied the score 39-all at the end of regulation.
