Pope John math students participated in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s annual Math Day on Thursday, November 13th.
The five-member team of Nate Dierks, Jordan Engle, Dylan Heithoff, Angie Pelster and Jackie Seier received the Math Bowl Class D championship trophy.
They were coached by math teacher, Sister Patricia Hoffman.
The Math Bowl is an exciting double elimination, fast paced competition consisting of 15 questions per round. Twenty-four teams took part in the Class D division. Pope John students had a perfect record, winning over Parkview Christian, Bruning Davenport, Heartland Homeschoolers, Exeter-Milligan and Kenesaw. They also won the final re-match with Heartland Homeschoolers to clinch the title.
