Fans of Husker football will have the opportunity to attend a tailgate party here in Elgin on Sept. 24.
At a special meeting of the Elgin City Council held Thursday night, the council approved a request from Jessie Reestman for a special designated permit for a tailgate party to be held at 100 Pine Street (the alternate location would be Beckman Lumber).
She and Bethany Miller said a new organization, the Elgin Ko-ed Group (EKG) wants to have the party on the lot west of City Hall. On that day, beginning at 2 p.m. and running well into the night, there will be games, roasted hog, a 16’ big screen to watch Nebraska play Wyoming and a beer garden. All proceeds from the event will go towards the Q125 Celebration to be held in 2014.
Tickets for the event are $10 per person (which includes a meal). Children five and under eat free. Tickets can be purchased at Dean’s Market and the Bank of Elgin.
