The City of Neligh would like to invite the Elgin community to participant in a Hazardous Waste Collection day being held Thursday, Sept. 12 at the City Transfer Station (the Compactor Site), west of Sargent Irrigation.
On that day, they will be accepting (household quantities only) latex & oil-based paint, pesticides, herbicides, oil, cleaning chemicals, fluorescent light bulbs, yard & garden chemicals, anti-freeze, car batteries, mercury & mercury containing devices including compact fluorescent bulbs.
Items which will NOT be accepted are tires, electronic equipment, appliances, PCBS, Picric Acid, science lab materials, radioactive materials or biological hazards.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Similar events are being held on Sept. 12 in Plainview and the following day in Wayne.
It is being sponsored by Northeast Nebraska Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D). Financing provided through the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality Waste Reduction & Recycling Incentive Grants Program.
