BATTLE CREEK — Thirty-two minutes was not enough to decide the winner of the D2-3 District girls basketball title between Ewing and Pope John Central Catholic. In overtime, Ewing scored three points in the final 11 seconds to claim a 54 to 49 victory.
Had the basketball taken a different bounce on several occasions, Pope John would be headed to Lincoln. But that’s how games are decided when two evenly-matched teams play for a trip to state.
