ELGIN PUBLIC SCHOOL BOARD
Special May Meeting

May 26, 2011, 7:30 PM
President Laurie Waterbury called the Special May 26, 2011 Board Meeting to order at 7:30 PM. Board members present were, Laurie Waterbury, Steve Heithoff, Stan Heithoff, and Bob Hoefer. Absent were Ryan Reestman and Kim Wells. Also present were Superintendent Steve Dennis and Principal Jimmy Feeney.
President Waterbury led the “Pledge of Allegiance.” Waterbury reminded everyone that a copy of the Nebraska Open Meetings Law was posted in the meeting room.
School board meeting notice complied with Meeting Notice Policy #204.07.
Stan Heithoff motioned and Steve Heithoff second to approve the agenda. Motion carried, vote 4-0.
Steve Heithoff motioned and Bob Hoefer second to excuse Ryan Reestman and Kim Wells from the meeting this evening. Motion carried, vote 4-0.
In action items, Steve Heithoff motioned and Stan Heithoff second to approve plan #6 from Schmitt Construction in the amount of $31,954 for the gym restroom project. Motion carried, vote 4-0.
Other summer maintenance projects were discussed with no further action.
Stan Heithoff motioned and Hoefer second to discontinue the contract with Siemens. Motion carried, vote 4-0.
Hoefer motioned and Steve Heithoff second to enter into closed session to discuss superintendent evaluation to prevent needless injury to the reputation of an individual, and if the individual has not requested a public meeting. President Waterbury restated the motion and the board all voted aye. Motion carried. The board entered into closed session at 8:03 p.m. The board returned to open session at 9:11 p.m.
Stan Heithoff moved and Hoefer seconded to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried, vote 4-0. The meeting adjourned at 9:12 p.m.
The next regular meeting of the Elgin Public Board of Education will be Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. in the Distance Learning Room.
