Schools in Elgin are set to welcome back students next week.
Pope John XXIII Central Catholic Junior-Senior High School will begin their 45th year when they open their doors to students on Wednesday, Aug. 17.
That will mark the first day of classes for the 2011-2012 school year.
Principal Betty Getzfred said the first day will be a short day as classes will run from 8:15 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The first full day of classes will be on Thursday, Aug. 18. On that day, classes will begin at 8:05 a.m. and conclude at 3:43 p.m. for junior high and high school students.
Elgin Public
Elgin Public School will open its doors to students for the 2011-2012 school year on Wednesday, Aug. 17. According to information provided by the school, the first day of school will commence at 8:15 a.m. and dismiss at 1 p.m. For pre-school students, they will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m. the first day.
The first full day of classes will be Thursday, Aug. 18. School will begin at 8:15 for all students. High school and junior high students will be dismissed at 3:43 p.m. Grade school and kindergarten students are dismissed at 3:40 p.m. Preschool students go from 8:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
St. Boniface Elementary School
The first full day of classes for students at St. Boniface Elementary School will be Friday, Aug. 19. Classes will begin at 8:05 a.m. and conclude at 3:45 p.m.
