Elgin residents will have the opportunity to dispose of unwanted items Saturday, May 30 as part of what has become an annual event — Community Clean Up Day.
On that day, large dumpsters will be located in the north lot of Elgin Livestock Sales, Inc., for the expressed purpose of being a location to drop off unwanted items.
According to Elgin City Clerk Vicki Miller, a number of items are NOT ALLOWED to be disposed of at the dumpsters. They are:
• Construction Debris
• Lumber
• Shingles
• Tires
A number of items which are acceptable, but must be kept separate are:
• Televisions
• Computers
• Appliances
• Iron
• Vehicle batteries
