The ‘signature’ event of the summer in Antelope County will unfold starting Tuesday, July 31.
That, of course, is the Antelope County Fair to be held in Neligh July 31 — August 5.
Entries for the various exhibits will be processed on Tuesday. The first actual day of competition will be Wednesday, Aug 1.
Activities on that day will include a dog show in the morning, small pets and the cat show. The dairy show and horse show will be held on Thursday.
Friday activites will include more events associated with the horse show, starting at 8:30 a.m. Also during the morning will be the poultry show. The rabbit show will start at 1 p.m., then the small animal round robin contest will be held. The goat and sheep show is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. that day.
On Saturday, the swine and beef livestock shows will take place as well as a large animal round robin contest.
Evenings at the county fair are set aside for entertainment. The grandstand will be the hub for these events.
On the last day of the fair there will be an open horse fun day in the arena, starting at 10 a.m. The 4-H Fashion Revue and awards ceremony will take place at 12:30 p.m. In front of the grandstand will be the ATV mud drags at 2 p.m.
