Vanis, Three Others Earn Medals at Howells Invite

HOWELLS — Wolfpack wrestlers finished ninth out of 15 teams Saturday at the Howells Pool Wrestling Tournament. Four wrestlers (Brett Kinney, Austin Heying, Shane Beckman and Shane Vanis placed at the tournament. Vanis finished second, Kinney placed third while Heying and Beckman each brought home fourth place medals.

Wakefield won the team title with 193 points followed by Scribner-Snyder/Guardian Angels 171, Millard South JV 165, Oakland-Craig 142, Howells 120.5, Malcolm 92.5, unattached 72, Lutheran High Northeast 69, EPPJ 68, Ponca 59, Elkhorn South JV 55, Clearwater/Orchard 47, Battle Creek JV 39, Humphrey St. Francis 27 and Wakefield JV 27.

Results from the meet were:

120 pounds — Brett Kinney (EPPJ) was pinned by N. Gonzalez (WA) in 4:30; Kinney won 7 to 6 over Z. Deloa (MS); Kinney pinned E. Quintero (C/O) in 36 seconds; Kinney pinned J. Nelson (WA) in 50 seconds; Kinney was pinned by D. Graybeal (SSGA) in 47 seconds.
