Residents and travelers using Highway 14 through Elgin and Petersburg next week may encounter delays as work begins on resurfacing the highway within city limits.
According to Tony Tschirren, Nebraska Department of Roads-Neligh shop, work is scheduled to begin on the Petersburg section on Tuesday, June 28. Crews will move on up the highway and begin milling Elgin’s downtown section on Thursday, June 30. Tschirren said that drivers should anticipate some one-lane traffic and delays during the milling process. Once that is completed, within a couple of days, they will begin to re-lay the highway with asphalt. In Elgin, they are hoping to not block off parking during the process but may instead ask for people to parallel park temporarily. Each project is expected to be finished over the course of several days.
