ELGIN — Playing a triangular Tuesday night at St. Boniface gymnasium, Elgin Public-Pope John defeated Lindsay Holy Family and lost to Osmond.
In the final match of the evening, the Wolfpack defeated LHF 25-23, 15-25 and 25-15.
In the first game, EPPJ was down 17 to 10 before rallying.
Keying the surge was the serving of Ashley Bode who rattled off four points in a row. She benefitted from an ace block by Marin Heithoff.
The teams then traded points. With the score tied at 22-all, the Wolfpack took control to win game one.
LHF built a six-point lead early in game two and capitalized on the momentum to even the match at one-game apiece.
In the decisive third game, an ace serve by Ashley Bode gave the Wolfpack an eight to three lead. The team maintained that five-point margin midway through the game. Then, junior Chelsi Mescher had an ace spike and added two service points to bump the lead up to 16 to nine. From that point on, the teams traded points as the Wolfpack closed out the match for their fifth victory of the season.
