ELGIN — Wolfpack wrestlers claimed two medals Saturday at the Pope John Invitational Wrestling Tournament. “We are struggling with injuries,” Coach Doug Jones said. “Hopefully, we can get healed up during the break.”
Just six Wolfpack wrestlers competed. Two finished the tournament with medals. Shane Vanis and Brett Kinney each placed fourth in their respective weight classes.
Pender easily won the team competition with 240 points followed by Plainview 176.5, West Holt 109, Fullerton 107, unattached 85, Newman Grove-LHF 80, Pleasanton 65, Hartington Cedar Catholic 61, Osceola 61, Cedar Valley 50, EPPJ 48, Randolph 46, bye 46, Clearwater/Orchard 45, North Central 34, Battle Creek JV 19, Pender JV 19 and Humphrey St. Francis 10.
