Jeffery A. Scholl
1971 – 2010
Jeffery Alan Scholl, son of Waldean L. and Karen M. (Ausdemore) Scholl was born July 26, 1971 at the Boone County Hospital in Albion, NE. He was baptized, received first communion, and was confirmed at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg, NE. He attended St. John’s Elementary School through the eighth grade and graduated from Petersburg High School in 1989 with a perfect attendance record at both schools.
While in high school, Jeff became an Eagle Scout. He entered the United States Air Force, was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, SD, and was honorably discharged in 1993. He moved to Norfolk and worked for IBP in Madison, NE.
On August 12, 1995, Jeff was united in marriage to Suzanne K. Childers at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg, NE. The couple made their home in Norfolk, NE where they have raised their two boys: Ryan and Brendan. Jeff worked for the Nebraska Central Railroad as a Train Engineer for 10+ years.
Jeff was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Norfolk, NE. Jeff truly enjoyed trains, restoring antique tractors and especially spending time with his family. He was a loving husband to his wife and an exemplary father to his sons.
Jeff passed away at the age of 38, on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 as a result of a railroad bridge collapse near Sara’s Lake, at Norfolk, NE.
He is survived by his wife Suzie and sons: Ryan (6) and Brendan (3) of Norfolk, NE; his parents Wally and Karen Scholl of Petersburg, NE; three brothers: Lynn Scholl and wife Stacy of Charleston, SC; Brian Scholl and wife Chris of Norfolk, NE; Rob Scholl and wife Nicole of Waverly, NE; two sisters: Kim Rolf of Council Bluffs, IA; Anne Dierks and husband Jim of Petersburg, NE; grandmother: Cecilia Ausdemore of Neola, IA; Parents-in-law: George and Marge Childers of Elgin, NE; brother-in-law: Eric Childers and wife Jaime of Neligh, NE; along with nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other family and friends.
Jeff was preceded in death by his grandparents: Leonard, Cecilia and Katherine Scholl; Ambrose Ausdemore; and two aunts: Sharon and Lenora Scholl.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg, NE with burial at the parish cemetery.
