EPPJ volleyball players offered their own version of “The Late Show” Monday night, defeating Neligh/Oakdale in the opening round of the C2-10 Sub-District Tournament.
Taking the court to play the match, more than two hours after the scheduled start due to both early matches going five games, the Wolfpack played with purpose in demolishing the Warriors 25-12, 25-15 and 25-10.
An ace serve by Nicole Beckman gave the Wolfpack an 18 to 8 lead in game one. Kills by Liz Selting and Terri Seier helped the Wolfpack close out the game.
In game two, the Wolfpack led 14 to 12, then put together an 11 to three run to close out the game. Jenna Parks had an ace serve and Amy Nelson added a big kill. Seier then teamed up with Jill Schindler for a stuff block on game point.
In the final game, there was no stopping the Wolfpack as they led 22 to seven at one point. Paige Meis and Nelson teamed up for a stuff block, sophomore Grace Henn came off the bench to record a kill and Anna Heilhecker served an ace on match point.
For the match, Selting led Wolfpack hitters with 10 kills, followed by Seier with seven, Parks six, Nelson and Meis three apiece, Henn and Schindler each with one. Danae Smith and Chase Vleck led the Warriors with six kills apiece.
The Wolfpack had nine ace serves. Parks had three, Selting and Mescher each had two, Beckman and Heilhecker each had one.
Seier had four of the team’s 10 solo blocks, Schindler added three.
Mescher led the team in digs with eight, Selting had seven and Beckman added six.
Parks was tops in set assists with 14, Baylee Wemhoff added 12.
Mescher led the Wolfpack in serve receive with 14.
The win boosted the Wolfpack’s record to 24-6.
