ELGIN CITY COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS

May 2, 2011

The Elgin City Council met in regular session on Monday, May 2, 2011, at 7:30 p.m., pursuant to posted notice. Mayor Schmitt called the meeting to order, and announced the location of the Open Meeting Act. Council members present were Shirley Nissen, Don Mackel, Jim Kittelson and Kenny Jochum.

• Approved the use of the park for Chamber sponsored event on July 30th

• Approved a special designated permit for July 30th, with the location being on Oak Street south of the park being

• Proceeding with a water study with the estimated cost to be $7000 to $9500

• Amending Ordinance 626 next month, due to an error

• A mass calling service for Elgin residents with the estimated cost of $750

• Running an ad looking for a supervisor for the tree/compost site

• Entering into executive session at 8:35 p.m. to discuss land acquisition and to protect the City’s interest in that regard

• Reconvened in Open session at 8:43 p.m.

• Instructed Sheriff Moore to warn two parties of their dogs running a large one more time and then issuing citations if the problems continue

Discussions were held:

• Liquor License extension

• Dogs Running At Large

• Number of dogs allowed at one residence

• There were no bids received for construction of a storage bunker

• Purchasing a fire proof file cabinet

• Community Clean Up Day on May 7, 2011

• Amending Ordinance 7; 237 at the June meeting

• Funding options for the proposed fire storage building

• The cleaning and disinfecting of the water tower

• Getting the pool ready to open

• Replacing a leaking valve at 3rd and Elm Streets

• Storage of the police vehicles

• Bid accepted for used fire truck

• Selling City’s old loader

• Special elections and the cost of them

• City office will be closed on Thursday and Friday, May 5th & 6th

• Meeting was adjourned at 9:10 p.m.
