WOLFPACK GOLF TEAM HEADED TO STATE!

NORFOLK — One of the team goals for the Wolfpack this season was to qualify for the Class C State Golf Tournament. Mark that one off the list as Elgin Public-Pope John is headed to State!
Competing Monday at the C-3 District Golf Tournament at Fairplay Golf Club, the Wolfpack were one of three teams to qualify for the state tournament.
Plainview, EPPJ and Norfolk Catholic earned berths at the state tournament by virtue of their performance. Plainview won the team title with an impressive score of 298. The Wolfpack came in second at 331 and Norfolk Catholic won a playoff over Battle Creek to earn the final berth as each school shot 337.
Other team scores were Madison 348, Ord 358, West Holt 359, Creighton 377, Twin River 381, Boone Central 384, Neligh-Oakdale 390, Lutheran High Northeast 399 and Shelby-Rising City 473.
Medalist at the tournament was sophomore Mitchell Klooz who shot a 65. Teammate Sam Meuret was second with a 70.
The Wolfpack’s best performance was turned in by Andrew Heithoff. The junior shot a 79 to finish sixth. Nick Heithoff placed ninth with an 83. Senior Evan Parks finished in a tie for 11th with an 83.
Rounding out the Wolfpack scores were freshman Kyle Heithoff with an 86 and junior Tyler Childers had a 93.
The Wolfpack are coached by Jake Sladky.
The Wolfpack will now play in the Class C State Tournament Tuesday and Wednesday, May 22-23, at the Kearney Country Club. Tee times will be announced later by the NSAA.
