EPPJ Girls Defeat Wheeler Central

BARTLETT — Ahead by two points at halftime, Elgin Public-Pope John pulled away in the second half to post a convincing 51 to 31 victory over Wheeler Central Thursday night.

The victory snapped a two-game losing streak and provided the girls with some momentum heading into the conference tournament this week.

Coach Randy Eisenhauer described the two games played during the week as “an up and down week but we finished off the week on a good note. The girls played hard in both games but came up a little short in one (LHF),” he said.

Against the Lady Broncos the Wolfpack used the three-point shot to pull away in the third quarter. Kasi Stoltz made two and Jessica Heithoff had one during the quarter where the Wolfpack outscored Wheeler Central 18 to nine.

Then, in the fourth quarter, the Wolfpack’s defensive pressure limited the Lady Broncos to just five points, thereby sealing the victory.

Stoltz led the Wolfpack with 21 points. Jenna Beckman hit two treys and finished with 11 points and Jessica Heithoff finished with two treys and 10 points.
