Wolfpack Girls Edge Ewing by Two

EWING — Depending on when you stepped into the gymnasium Friday night, one might have thought the Wolfpack girls had their basketball game under control. However, if you arrived in the final moments of the game you would have seen a tense thriller which Elgin Public-Pope John narrowly won by the score of 47 to 45 over Ewing.

Twice during the game, once in the first half and again in the second half, the Wolfpack built double-digit leads only to see Ewing fight their way back into the game.

“We got off to an excellent start and then lost the intensity for awhile,” Coach Randy Eisenhauer said. “They fought hard throughout the game and came up with a stop at the end.”

Having led by 13 points (41 to 28) midway through the third quarter, the Wolfpack managed just six points over the final 13+ minutes of the game, yet amazingly, still won.
