Wayne Walter Currie, 99, of Norfolk passed away on Friday, September 25, 2015 at Edgewood Vista Nursing Home, Norfolk, NE. Memorial services will be held at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, with Rev. Jackie Perry officiating. Lunch will follow at Divots at 12 p.m.
Inurnment will be at Park Center Cemetery, Rural Elgin.
Refreshments following at the Park Congregational Church, Rural Elgin. Graveside service will be Saturday, October 3, at 3 p.m. Military Rites by V.F.W Post #5816 and American Legion Post 229, Elgin, NE, with United States Army Honors Guard.

Wayne Walter Currie was born on Dec. 10, 1915, at Primrose, Nebraska. The son of George Walter and Lena (Kruse) Currie, he attended Albion and Bartlett Public Schools.
He served in the United States Army as a TF Corporal. He fought in World War II, serving from Jan. 17, 1942 to Oct. 13, 1945. He was in the Battle Of The Bulge, and received the Bronze Star. He was stationed in Belgium, France, Germany, and Great Britain.
He married Dorothy Kinney on October 26, 1946, at Elgin, NE. After they were married, they farmed west of Elgin their whole life. They were married 68 years.
The couple enjoyed traveling in the U.S. and overseas, and visiting their children in their retirement years.
They moved to Norfolk from the farm in 2009.
Wayne was a member at Park Congregational U.C.C. Church west of Elgin for 79 years, and a lifetime member of V.F.W. at Elgin.
Survivors include wife, Dorothy Currie of Norfolk; children Paula Porter of Phoenix, Arizona, Janet (Kenneth) Hofacker of Naper-ville, Illinois, David (Mary) Currie of Alpharetta, Georgia, Robin Currie of Tracy, California, nine grandchildren, one great grandson, one sister Lucille (Roger) Norris of Greeley, NE, one brother Roger Currie of Elgin. Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews,
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lena, one grandson (Devon Currie) and four siblings (Ralph, Irene, Orin and Marion).
