The honor bestowed upon me by the Elgin Public Schools was very much appreciated. With all the past great coaches at the school, I am not sure that I was the most worthy, but the award is something that I will always cherish and remember. My twenty total years of association with the students at the Elgin schools were some of the best years of my life, and so it is with deep appreciation that I give a heartfelt thank you to those who made this selection possible. To those who sent cards, telephoned or shook my hand and to Coach Wells and the committee who gave me the plaque and put on the reception, I also give thanks.
