Pre-K and elementary students from EPS and Pope John were taught fire prevention by the Elgin Volunteer Fire & Rescue personnel last week. They were encouraged to check smoke alarms to make sure batteries are working and the alarms are ready to protect families. Also, they were told to make a family fire escape plan, know two ways out of every room and choose a safe meeting place outside their home.
