Rodeo Action This Weekend At Bartlett

There will be plenty of things to see and do at the 89th Wheeler County Fair & Rodeo this weekend.
On Thursday, Aug. 14, open class entries will be accepted from noon to 4 p.m. on the fairgrounds. That evening, starting at 6 p.m., there will be youth roping events. Then, at 7 p.m., the Wheeler County Resident/Land Owner Team Roping (Top Header & Heeler Buckles) will be held. The event is being sponsored by Sandhills Service & Elgin Livestock Sales LLC. Throughout the four-day weekend, there will be a 25-foot water slide which the children will enjoy, especially with warm summer weather.
Friday night, Aug. 15, starting at 8 p.m. will be the MSRA/NSRA Rodeo with slack to follow. Admission is free. After the rodeo, fairgoers can dance to “Shaboom Entertainment, Kevin Pelc DJ” starting at 9 p.m.
Both Friday and Saturday night will feature a wild horse race with a calcutta each night.
Saturday activities get underway with the Nebraska Pedal Pullers event at 2:30 p.m.
From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Fourth Annual Wheeler County Steak Feed will be held. Advance tickets are $10 per person, $12 at the door. Open class entries will be dismissed at 8 p.m.
Also at 8 p.m. will be the second night of the MSRA/NSRA Rodeo.
The evening will wrap up with a dance featuring the “Lonesome Walker Band” from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
The last day of the fair, Sunday, Aug. 17, will feature a ranch rodeo calcutta at 5:30 p.m. followed by the ranch rodeo. Entries close Aug. 10.
