President Lisa Welding called the Regular August Board Meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Board members present were Ron Bode, Steve Busteed, Todd Heithoff, Eric Beckman, Luke Hinkle and Lisa Welding. Also present were Superintendent Mike Brockhaus and Principal Greg Wemhoff.
President Welding led the “Pledge of Allegiance.” Welding reminded everyone that a copy of the Nebraska Open Meetings Law was posted in the meeting room.
School board meeting notice complied with Meeting Notice Policy #204.07. Posting was done on the High School building window and post office bulletin board.
Todd Heithoff motioned, Ron Bode second to approve the consent agenda–#5- Minutes of Regular Meeting, #6- Adopt the Agenda, #7- Financial Report, #8- Board Bills. Vote 6-0, motion carried.

President Welding recognized visitors and asked if the patrons had any comments.
No standing committee reports.
In the principal’s report, Mr. Wemhoff reported. Also reported on coaches that attended the coaches clinic in July in Lincoln. He also gave an update on the upcoming start to school and activities.
Supt. Brockhaus gave an update on the budget and information from Administrator Days. Also gave an update on the track and field. Mr. Brockhaus also gave the board information on the Health Equity Pay Back Program.
In action items, Luke Hinkle motioned, Eric Beckman seconded to approve Policy 5006, Classroom Capacities for 2027-2028 school year as presented. Vote 6-0 motioned carried.
Todd Heithoff motioned, Steve Busteed seconded to approve of the Junior Class Trip in June of 2027. Vote 6-0, motion carried.
Steve Busteed motioned and Ron Bode seconded to approve the transfer of $150,000 from General Fund to the Activities Fund, $50,000 from the General Fund to the Nutrition Funds and $150,000 from the General Fund to the Depreciation Fund. Vote 6-0, motion carried.
Eric Beckman motioned to approve the transportation for the Music Booster Trip in the spring, Luke Hinkle seconded. Vote 6-0, motion carried.
During the Discussion, the board scheduled the Budget Hearing for Wednesday, September 9 at 7:00 p.m., with the Tax Request Hearing to follow. The regular board meeting is planned for after that.
Ron Bode motioned, Steve Busteed second to adjourn the meeting. Vote 6-0, motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, following the Budget Hearing and Tax Request Hearing that begin at 7pm in the Board Room at Elgin Public School.
