President Steve Busteed called the regular meeting to order at 7:32 p.m. Board members present were Stan Heithoff, Lisa Welding, Doug Jones, Todd Heithoff, and Ron Bode. Also present were Superintendent Dan Polk and Principal Greg Wemhoff.
President Busteed led the “Pledge of Allegiance.” Busteed reminded everyone that a copy of the Nebraska Open Meetings Law was posted in the meeting room.
School board meeting notice complied with Meeting Notice Policy #204.07.
Lisa Welding motioned and Stan Heithoff second to approve the Consent Agenda: #5- Minutes of Previous Meeting, #6- Adopt the Agenda, #7- Financial Report, #8- Board Bills. Motion carried, vote 6-0.

President Busteed recognized visitors and asked if the patrons had any comments.
In the Principal’s report, Mr. Wemhoff reported that the blood drive met their goal even during the Covid-19 virus shutdown.
In the Supt. Report, Mr. Polk reported that things have gone well during the shutdown.
In action items, Stan Heithoff motioned, Todd Heithoff second to approve teacher requisitions as presented for 2020-21. Vote 6-0, motion carried.
Ron Bode motioned, Lisa Welding second to approve the extra-duty assignments for 2020-21 as presented with necessary additions as determined by administration. Vote 6-0, motion carried.
Doug Jones motioned, Stan Heithoff second to approve the 2020 graduate list as presented upon completion of the requirements necessary to graduate. Vote 6-0, motion carried.
Todd Heithoff motioned, Bode second to accept the resignation of Trey Rossman with regret. Vote 6-0, motion carried.
Stan Heithoff motioned, Jones second to approve teaching contracts for 2020-21 of Haley Guenther as Spanish teacher and Brandon Callahan as history teacher. Vote 6-0, motion carried.
Jones motioned, Todd Heithoff second to approve a resolution whereas the Superintendent/Administration makes all decisions regarding grades, graduation, curriculum, and related matters during this time of school closure because of the Covid-19 virus. Vote 6-0, motion carried.
In discussion items, the board discussed closing out the school year (calendar changes, returning items & collecting items from students, etc.). The school board was very appreciative of the work of administrators, teachers and staff in offering a food program and continuing the education of our students during this difficult time.
Motion by Welding, second by Stan Heithoff to adjourn the meeting. All voted aye, motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 8:35 p.m.
The next meeting will held on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. in the Distance Learning Room at Elgin Public School
