Pay Raises Approved for Administration, Certified Staff at District #18

Meeting Monday night, the District #18 Board of Education approved salary increases for administration and classified staff.

Five board members (Laurie Waterbury had an excused absence), approved a three percent increase for classified staff plus the increase in insurance. Superintendent Steve Dennis said this results in a $6,468 increase from one year ago. 

For administration, the board approved a 3.5 percent increase in salary plus an increase in insurance for Principal Jimmy Feeney III as well as increasing his contract to 10.5 months. Dennis received a 3.5 percent increase in salary plus the increase in insurance. “Superintendents are expensive, but you have to have them,” Heithoff said.

President Steve Heithoff said most schools have 10.5 month contracts for principals.

In other action:

Milk bids — The board accepted a bid from Roberts Dairy to provide milk for students during the 2010-2011 school year. Dennis said Meadow Gold was contacted again, but the district received no response.
