Netters Sweep N-V Cougars

ELGIN — Twenty points.
That’s the total number of points Elgin Public-Pope John allowed Niobrara-Verdigre on Parents’ Night as the Wolfpack volleyball team swept the match in three games 25-8, 25-5 and 25-7.
It was a match of numbers, big numbers for the Wolfpack as they rolled to their 23rd victory of the season. The loss dropped Niobrara-Verdigre’s record to 4-17.
The Wolfpack (23-1) had eight players register kills in the match as they were 64 of 74 hitting at the net. Senior Amy Nelson led the way with 12 kills followed by Elizabeth Selting with nine, Grace Henn added six, Paige Meis posted three, Nicki Payne had two while Anna Heilhecker, Lydia Behnk and Jordan Mescher each had one.
Other numbers of importance on this night were:
12 — The total number of aces served up by the Wolfpack. Leading the ace parade was junior Calli Krebs with seven, Baylee Wemhoff had two while Mescher, Nelson and Selting each had one.

8 — The total number of solo blocks in the match by the Wolfpack. Selting led the way with three solo blocks, Heilhecker came off the bench to record two, Payne, Behnk and Nelson each had one.
3 — The total number of dig errors in the match. Mescher led the team in digs with seven followed by Krebs with three, Taya Voborny and Baylee Wemhoff each had two, Heilhecker, Henn and Ally Wemhoff each had one.
