A Mass of Christian Burial for Mildred Fritz, age 84, formally of Atkinson, will be held at 10:30 Friday December 7, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Atkinson. Father James Weeder will officiate, with burial to follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Atkinson.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec 6. Altar Society will have a Rosary at 4 p.m. and the Parish Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Coffee, cookies and fellowship will be held at the KC hall following visitation.
Mildred passed away Dec. 2, 2018 at Avera St. Anthony’s Hospital in O’Neill, surrounded by her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family for future designation.

Mildred Ann Beckman was born on Jan. 30, 1934 at Elgin to Henry and Mary (Starman) Beckman. She was the ninth of 12 children. On April 11, 1953 she was united in marriage to Francis Fritz at St. Bonaventure Church in Raeville. Four children were born to this union; Marvin, Phillip, Helen, and Michael. Their first home was on the Harold Olson “Headquarters” Ranch in Bartlett. In 1963, they purchased a ranch between Stuart and Atkinson, where they resided until moving into Atkinson in 1986. Mildred was an active member of both the Catholic Daughters and the St. Joseph Altar Society, as well as a member of the Sand Creek Extension Club. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, and traveling, as well as cooking for her family. She was a 24/7 caretaker to Francis during his seven-year battle with cancer. In 2014, Mildred moved to The Evergreen Assisted Living Facility in O’Neill and resided there until her death.
Mildred is survived by her four children, Marv (Dee) Fritz of O’Neill, Phil (Linda) Fritz of Stuart, Helen (Scott) Plugge of Bartlett, and Michael (Juliann) Fritz of Atkinson. She had 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 brothers, Melvin (MaryAnn) Beckman of Omaha and Clarence Beckman of Littleton, CO. Three sisters, Sr. Bernardine Beckman OSB of Norfolk, Delores Olson of Kearney, and Alice Powell of Omaha, and one sister-in-law Marylou Beckman of Blair, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mary Beckman, husband Francis (1996), great-grandson Michael Baasch (1997), brother Alfred, brother-in-law’s, Leonard Olson and Jerry Powell, brothers and spouses, Walter (Charlene), and Eddie (Phyllis) Beckman and sisters and spouses; Dorothy (Norbert) Reith, Martha (Louis) Zadina, and Rose (Ambrose) Reicks.
