Wheeler County’s ‘favorite son’ Herb Mignery returned home Sunday, bringing a ‘gift’ for all who pass through the village of Bartlett to admire.
Known world-wide for his bronze sculptures depicting Western art, Mignery was the guest of honor on the grounds of the Wheeler County Courthouse where his work can be viewed by all.
In some ways, Sunday afternoon’s gathering was a community ‘thank-you’ to the man who has never forgotten his roots. In the course of just over an hour, the program was also a learning experience as an estimated crowd of approximately 250 persons learned the meaning behind the works of art which glistened in the summer sunshine. Formally, it was a dedication ceremony.
