Marvin S. Pelster

1938 – 2012

Marv Pelster, age 73 of Dalton, NE  passed away Monday evening, January 16, 2012 at the Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.

Marvin Sylvester Pelster, the son of Leonard Lawrence and Cyrilla Catherine (Henn) Pelster was born on August 23, 1938 at Elgin, NE.

His family moved to the Dalton area in the early 1940’s where Marv attended school and graduated from Dalton High School.  He moved to Idaho for a short time and worked in a local Arboretum.

Upon his return to Cheyenne County, Marv worked for the Egging Company.

On February 11, 1974, he began working for Wheat Belt Public Power, retiring as Assistant Engineer on June 11, 2001.

While in high school, Marv excelled in all sports.  Marv has been a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Knight’s of Columbus, the Dalton Fire Department and the Sidney Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his wife:  Char of Dalton; one daughter:  Tracy Pelster of Dalton; two brothers:  Nick Pelster and wife Joni of Walnut Creek, CA and Jim Pelster and wife Henrietta of Sidney; three sisters:  Kathy Bartels and husband Bob of Sidney, Joyce Eckert and husband Tom of Bellevue, NE and Norie Hamilton and husband Bob of Thornton, CO; one brother-in-law:  Jack Berg of Bridgeport, NE and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Marv was preceded in death by his parents and one sister:  Darlene.

Wake services were held at 6 p.m., Thursday, January 19, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M., Friday, January 20.

Both services were in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dalton with Father Dave Rykwalder officiating. Burial followed in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Marv’s name to the American Heart Association, the American Lung Association or to the local Night of Hope.

Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Services was in charge of Marv’s care and funeral arrangements.
