Marion B. Vanis, 80, of Rising City, died Saturday, August 22, 2015, at
David Place in David City.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 26 (today), at 10:30 a.m. at Presentation Catholic Church in Marietta. Celebrant will be Rev. Joseph Steele.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Memorials will be to the family wishes.
Committal will be at a later date. Lunch will be served in the Presentation Church Hall.

Marion was born July 30, 1935, in Dwight, Nebraska, to William and Agnes (Vodicka) Vanis. He
graduated from Marietta High School. On March 2, 1957, he married Marjorie Wondercheck at
Presentation Catholic Church in Marietta. They lived in David City for 20 years and then moved to Rising City. Marion was a truck driver and “shade tree” mechanic. He loved tinkering in his shop, reading western books, watching westerns on TV and following the Denver Broncos.
Marion is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Rising City, one son, Randy (Susan) Vanis of Elgin, three daughters; Dianna Robertson, David City, Connie (Ron) Foltz, Columbus and Brenda (Mike) Gates of Shelby, two sisters; Wilma (Jerry) Dewispelare, Octavia and Dorothy (Kenny) Dewispelare of David City, 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and two sisters-in-law, Bernice Vanis of Lincoln and Elise Vanis of Denver.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and five siblings; Marcella and her husband Robert Brezina, Raymond Vanis, Harry and Lucille Vanis, Jim Vanis and Mary Ann and her husband LeRoy Zegers.
