Janice M. Hart, 83 of Elgin, NE, died Monday, January 20, 2025, at Arbor Care Centers – Countryside, in Madison, NE.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 27, 2025 at St. Boniface Church in Elgin, with Rev. Frank Baumert officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Janice Marie Hart, daughter of Leo J. and Ione M. (Penne) Hausmann, was born in O’Neill, NE on October 12, 1941. She was confirmed into the Catholic faith at St. Boniface Church in Elgin.
She attended St. Boniface schools from grade school until she graduated in 1960.
On July 29, 1961, Janice was united in marriage to Rolland R. Hart at St. Boniface Church in Elgin.
From this union Janice was blessed with one son. They made their home on a farm between Elgin and Neligh, NE. Janice worked a few different jobs during her life. She was a CNA and housekeeper in nursing homes and was a grocery checker at Jack and Jill in Neligh.
Janice was a lifelong devoted Catholic. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Neligh for much of her adult life and was a member of the Christian Mothers.
She enjoyed watching her soap operas and her favorite show “Golden Girls.” She loved being outdoors tending to her yard and enjoying the fresh air.
Her favorite color was blue. Visiting her mom and aunt to do their hair and eat popcorn with them, was a routine event.
Most of all, she loved attending her granddaughters’ activities.
Janice is survived by her husband: Rolland Hart of Neligh; son: Scott (Christa) Hart of Madison; two granddaughters: Moriah Hart and Haley (Fiancé Mark Steiner) Hart both of Lincoln, NE; three brothers: Jim (Ruth) Hausmann of Kearney, NE; Mike (Judy) Hausmann of Papillion, NE; Don Hausmann of Evergreen, CO; two sisters: Jeri Ainsworth of Columbus, NE; Dianne (Donn) Olson of Columbus, NE; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents: Mike and Mary Penne; and Charles Hausmann.
