Hemenway takes second Saturday at Knights Invite

DUNNING — Samuel Hemenway led a duo of Wolfpack wrestlers taking their turn on the medal stand at the Knights Invite held Saturday at Dunning.
A freshman, Hemenway turned in his best showing of the season, finishing second in the 170-pound division.
Teammate Carter Beckman increased his record to 19-4, placing third in the 113-pound class. Beckman had three pins in four contested matches on the mats. In the consolation finals, he pinned Twin Loup’s Hector Estrada in 1:44.
Also competing Saturday were Dylon Parks and Thomas Warnke. Warnke recorded a pin in three contested matches.
Southwest won the team title with 138 points followed by Sutherland 126, Mullen 99, Twin Loup 86, North Central 76.5, Ansley-Litchfield 71, Sandhills-Thedford 55, Anselmo-Merna 51, Central Valley 47, Hemingford 41, Medicine Valley 41, NPSP 37, EPPJ 33, Cambridge 32 and Sandhills Valley 26.
