Great Plains Communications Announces Outage Plans

Great Plains Communications is advising customers that it will be necessary to conduct a planned power outage beginning at midnight on Saturday, April 24 and should be completed no later than 8 a.m. on Sunday, April 25.

The outage is expected to last less than 8 hours. During this time period, all Great Plains Communications Internet services will not be operational. Internet customers will not have access to the Internet, email, or website. The planned power outage is necessary for safety reasons while the work is going on to build a new computer center at its corporate offices, in Blair, Nebraska.

Due to the nature of this change, there may be a brief period between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Sunday morning when our customer support staff will not be accessible. The company scheduled the work to take place early on an early Sunday morning to minimize inconvenience for residential customers and businesses. Customers with questions regarding this outage should call 888-343-8014 and a representative from the Customer Response Center will assist them.
