VERDIGRE — The Wolfpack gained their first victory of the season Friday night, defeating Niobrara-Verdigre 37 to 26 on the road.
Playing their second game of the season, the Wolfpack (1-1) turned in a strong defensive performance, limiting the Cougars to single-digit scoring in all four quarters.
Tied at 14-all to start the second half, Coach Mark Schmitt’s team picked up the scoring pace, outscoring the Cougars 23 to 12 to earn the victory. “We are not shooting very well yet. We had a lot of open looks, the ball just wasn’t going in the hole. Our play was better in the second half. We got our first win, we now need to build on that.”
