Two students brought home medals from the State Speech competition held in Kearney on Friday.
Jordan Engle, a senior at Pope John Central Catholic High School, placed first in Extemporaneous speaking in Class D-2. After receiving first place in both preliminary rounds, he advanced to the final round and, again, judges placed Engle first.
At Elgin High School, senior Linsey Bode received a fifth place medal in Informative Speaking in Class D-1. She placed third and second in her two preliminary rounds and then fifth in the finals. Linsey received superior ratings during all of her performances.
