ELGIN — After two years of being ranked at or near the top of the Class D-2 state football polls, the Elgin Eagles enter the 2009 season with a number of question marks.
Carlie Wells begins his 10th year as head coach of the Eagles facing a number of challenges. His reputation for producing tough, hard-nosed teams is known across the state. As head coach, Wells has put together a career win-loss record of 50-37.
That might explain why the Lincoln Journal-Star has the Eagles ranked eighth in its’ pre-season poll which came out last week.
