Donald T. Starman, formerly of Elgin, NE passed away Friday, October 24, 2014 at Park View Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge, NE.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, October 27, 2014 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Elgin, NE with Rev. Ross Burkhalter officiating. Following services, Don’s body was donated to the Nebraska Anatomical Board, and later will be buried at St. Boniface Cemetery in Elgin. Huffman-Levander Funeral Home of Elgin, NE is in charge of arrangements.

Donald Theodore Starman, son of Gerhard and Pauline (Hoefer) Starman, was born January 16, 1933 at Elgin, NE. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Boniface Church and attended St. Boniface Catholic School in Elgin. He was employed by Contois Motors in Neligh until September 1961, when he began working for Union Oil Company.
On June 12, 1962, Don married Kathleen Ann Camp at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg. To this union, three children were born: Todd, Tammi and Tanya. The couple lived in Elgin where Don continued working for Union Oil Company for 25 years. In 1986, he started his own mechanic shop, Don’s Repair. Kathy passed away February 4, 1996.
Don married Marlene Clara (Schmidt) Eskens on February 15, 2014 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Coleridge, NE and moved to Coleridge. He entered Park View Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge in August 2014, and it was there that he passed away on October 24, 2014 following a battle with cancer.
He was a life-long member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Elgin and enjoyed being a member of St. Boniface Church Choir for 65+ years. He enjoyed old cars, motorcycles, the mountains, and spending the last several years traveling with Marlene, “Church Hopping” and visiting religious locations.
Don is survived by his wife Marlene of Coleridge; one son and family: Todd (Michele) Starman of Cozad, NE; Zach Starman of Lexington; Kaylea, Dillon and Alyssa Kolbo of Cozad; two daughters and families: Tammi (Robert) Wald of Omaha, NE; Rachel and Trevor Wald; Tanya (Darrin) Severson of Omaha; Taylor and Katelyn Severson; 11 step-children: Debra (Steve) Orwig of Wynot; Jeff (Barbara) Eskens of Temecula, CA; Ron (Tammie) Eskens of Fordyce; Mark (Wendy) Eskens of Yankton, SD; Donna (Charles) Fyfe and Doris Burns, both of Omaha; Jim (Cathy) Eskens of Wynot; Karen (Bill) Blind of Tampa, FL; Mike (Kari) Eskens of Lincoln; Kristie Eskens and husband Tony Lukens of Omaha; Pam (Steve) Kyriss of Omaha; 29 step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Kathy; and two brothers: Robert and Vernon Starman.
