CLARKSON — On a night when nearly everyone wearing orange and black expected the Elgin Eagles to soar to victory, something inexplicable happened: They lost.
In the D2-5 Sub-District championship game, Dodge overcame a nine-point deficit in the second half to defeat the Eagles 50 to 46.
The loss ended Elgin’s season at 19-5, one victory short of a 20-win plateau and two games short of a berth in the State Basketball Tournament.
