City Council Signs Contract with Green Fiber

The Elgin City Council Monday night had recycling on their minds as they acted on three items which will have an impact on local efforts.

The Council voted 4 to 0 to approve an agreement with Green Fiber out of Norfolk which outlines the services the company will provide.

City Clerk Vicki Miller told council members the semi-trailer trucks which had previously collected recyclable paper and cardboard were hauled away last week.

In its place is a Green Fiber dumpster to collect cardboard and paper items. Green Fiber empties the trailer every Wednesday and they will be monitoring the volume collected for the next 30 days to determine if another trailer is needed in Elgin.
