City Council Approve Plans for Fire Storage Building

The Elgin City Council Monday night were presented with blue prints for a new fire storage building which they hope to have constructed before the end of the year. They met with  John Zwingman of Advanced Consulting Engineering Services as well as Brian Fitzgerald and Denny Duer of Professional Associates Ltd., based out of Omaha, The existing building will be demolished and replaced with a wood frame building with a wood truss roof. A stem wall will go around the east, west and south sides of the building with 14’x14’ doors on the north side. Metal siding and roofing are exterior finishes.

Council members offered few suggestions to the architectural details of the building. Then, upon completion of the presentation, they authorized going out for bids.

Advertisements for bids will run for three weeks, starting next week in The Elgin Review. They will be prepared by Professional Associates, Ltd. A bid opening date of Sept. 6 at 2 p.m. at City Hall was approved by the council.
