The Pope John Wrestling Invitational was held Saturday at St. Boniface Gymnasium.
Four Wolfpack wrestlers competed, three bringing home medals from the meet.
Individual results for Wolfpack wrestlers were:
113 – Ryan Pelster (Elgin Public-Pope John) won by decision 12 to 5 over James Oelrich (Randolph); Pelster won by decision 7 to 4 over Josh Davis (Pender); Dylan Moore (Plainview) 9-2 won by decision 6 to 3 over Pelster. Pelster finished second in his weight class.
132 – Andrew Fangman (Elgin Public-Pope John) 11-7 received a bye in the opening round. Fangman won by pin over Ryan Smith (Cedar Valley) in 2:34; Corby Forbes (Plainview) pinned Fangman in 1:30; Fangman pinned Douglas Legate (Clearwater-Orchard) in 1:49; Fangman won by tech fall 18 to 2 over Sam Wortmann (Hartington CC). Fangman placed third in his weight class.
152 – Shane Beckman (Elgin Public-Pope John) won by pin in 46 seconds over Jesse Bowers (Battle Creek JV); Beckman won by pin over Colton Kuhnel (Cross County) in 35 seconds; Kordell Glause (Palmer) won by decision 5 to 1 over Beckman. Beckman finished second in his weight class.
195 – Beau Heithoff (Elgin Public-Pope John) was pinned by Chase Doncheske (Palmer) in 3:26; Heithoff was pinned by Jaden Meyer (Fullerton) in 4:22. Heithoff did not place in his weight class.
